Scotland's largest city built along either side of the River Clyde. Though not the capital city of Scotland Glaswegians (those who are from and live in Glasgow) consider Glasgow as Scotland's premier city! Glasgow developed through shipbuilding. The dock area has now been transformed into shopping, financial, living and recreational areas with music venues, museums, walkways and parks.

History

Glasgow is famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture, a rich legacy leftover from the city's 18th–20th-century prosperity due to trade and shipbuilding. Today it's a national cultural hub, home to institutions including the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland, as well as several acclaimed museums.
